Floral Design Day
Floral design day is celebrated on the 28th of February every month. We all love flowers and it is only appropriate that we celebrate a particular day to display our arrangements of flowers. Floral decoration and design is an ancient art. It can be traced back to ancient Egypt. Bouquets consisting of flowers like lotus and berries were offered to the dead and this is well-depicted in ancient Egyptian paintings found in the tomb of Apuy at Thebes. Lotus was considered a sacred flower related to the goddess of Isis. Wreaths, garlands and vases were found in the ancient civilisations of Greece and Rome.
We are not sure who originated this floral design day or the history behind such an occasion. We are however aware that floral designs and decoration existed from very ancient times. We should therefore celebrate this day with great delight. We should bring in the best flowers from the market and exercise our creativity during this day to show it to others. We can take pictures of the floral design that we have made. We can also employ professionals to decorate our house following a particular theme and throw a party so that everybody would be delighted.
