How To Analyze Your Website Traffic - PART 2

December 27th, 2008

For PART 1 Click here.

Additionally, web traffic stats can help you determine effective and ineffective areas of your website. If you have a page that you believe is important, but visitors are exiting it rapidly, that page needs attention. You could, for example, consider improving the link to this page by making the link more noticeable and enticing, or you could improve the look of the page or the ease that your visitors can access the necessary information on that page.

If, on the other hand, you notice that visitors are spending a lot of time on pages that you think are less important, you might consider moving some of your sales copy and marketing focus to that particular page.

As you can see, these statistics will reveal vital information about the effectiveness of individual pages, and visitor habits and motivation. This is essential information to any successful Internet marketing campaign.

Your website undoubtedly has exit pages, such as a final order or contact form. This is a page you can expect your visitor to exit rapidly. However, not every visitor to your site is going to find exactly what he or she is looking for, so statistics may show you a number of different exit pages. This is normal unless you notice a exit trend on a particular page that is not intended as an exit page. In the case that a significant percentage of visitors are exiting your website on a page not designed for that purpose, you must closely examine that particular page to discern what the problem is. Once you pinpoint potential weaknesses on that page, minor modifications in content or graphic may have a significant impact on the keeping visitors moving through your site instead of exiting at the wrong page.

After you have analyzed your visitor statistics, it’s time to turn to your keywords and phrases. Notice if particular keywords are directing a specific type of visitor to your site. The more targeted the visitor - meaning that they find what they are looking for on your site, and even better, fill out your contact form or make a purchase - the more valuable that keyword is.

However, if you find a large number of visitors are being directed - or should I say misdirected - to your site by a particular keyword or phrase, that keyword demands adjustment. Keywords are vital to bringing quality visitors to your site who are ready to do business with you. Close analysis of the keywords your visitors are using to find your site will give you a vital understanding of your visitor’s needs and motivations.

Finally, if you notice that users are finding your website by typing in your company name, break open the champagne! It means you have achieved a significant level of brand recognition, and this is a sure sign of burgeoning success.

Analyzing Website Traffic

December 26th, 2008

Copyright © Herman Dias http://www.Money-Earner.com

Analyzing your web traffic statistics can be an invaluable tool for a number of different reasons. But before you can make full use of this tool, you need to understand how to interpret the data.

Most web hosting companies will provide you with basic web traffic information that you then have to interpret and make pertinent use of. However, the data you receive from your host company can be overwhelming if you don’t understand how to apply it to your particular business and website. Let’s start by examining the most basic data - the average visitors to your site on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

These figures are the most accurate measure of your website’s activity. It would appear on the surface that the more traffic you see recorded, the better you can assume your website is doing, but this is an inaccurate perception. You must also look at the behavior of your visitors once they come to your website to accurately gauge the effectiveness of your site.

There is often a great misconception about what is commonly known as “hits” and what is really effective, quality traffic to your site. Hits simply means the number of information requests received by the server. If you think about the fact that a hit can simply equate to the number of graphics per page, you will get an idea of how overblown the concept of hits can be. For example, if your homepage has 15 graphics on it, the server records this as 15 hits, when in reality we are talking about a single visitor checking out a single page on your site. As you can see, hits are not useful in analyzing your website traffic.

The more visitors that come to your website, the more accurate your interpretation will become. The greater the traffic is to your website, the more precise your analysis will be of overall trends in visitor behavior. The smaller the number of visitors, the more a few anomalous visitors can distort the analysis.

The aim is to use the web traffic statistics to figure out how well or how poorly your site is working for your visitors. One way to determine this is to find out how long on average your visitors spend on your site. If the time spent is relatively brief, it usually indicates an underlying problem. Then the challenge is to figure out what that problem is.

It could be that your keywords are directing the wrong type of visitors to your website, or that your graphics are confusing or intimidating, causing the visitor to exit rapidly. Use the knowledge of how much time visitors are spending on your site to pinpoint specific problems, and after you fix those problems, continue to use time spent as a gauge of how effective your fix has been.

To Grow or not to Grow - There is no Question

December 26th, 2008

Isn’t it true that everyone has a goal? Some may dream of wealth, some of travel, some of dedicating their lives to service others, whatever the goal … it is human nature to have something to “aim for.” If you were asked, “How willing are you to take whatever steps necessary to achieve your personal and/or professional goals?” What would your answer be? Are you willing to change your perceptions, learn new things, and embrace new ideas? Are you willing to grow in order to grasp your brass ring?

In human resources management, the buzz word “KSAs” has been quite popular. It stands for knowledge, skills, and abilities. These are the things that make employees attractive to employers, and propel them up the ladder to success. Are your knowledge, skills, and abilities up to date? Many people rely on existing skills to get them where they want to be, without thinking to update skills, research new technologies, or perfect their delivery. What are some of the things in your life that could stand a little refreshing, updating, or attention?

Do you take time each day to visualize what you would like to accomplish and where you would like to be in life? Daily visualization is an excellent tool that has been commended for helping many reach their goals much quicker than normal. What about persuasion? In 2003, so much of our success depends on selling products, ideas or services. Being able to successfully persuade an audience into considering and actually purchasing your product will go a long way to achieving success. The same holds true for marketing. Think of the last product that had you rushing to the store to make a purchase. Did you need it, or simply want it? What about toy manufacturers that start priming children for the December holidays after Labor Day? They are truly experts at marketing! There are so many tools available that simply need to be utilized. Don’t let fear or complacency stand in the way of success. That was almost what Roger allowed to happen.

Roger decided to start a new contracting business, his life long ambition. He knew the contracting business, had wonderful ideas, was quite honest and ethical, and did fantastic work. Roger had all of the necessary contractor skills, but not all of the skills necessary to run a successful business. Roger is one of those “baby boomers” who were not exposed to computers in school, and his work experience has all been hands-on in the field training. Thus, he is completely computer illiterate with no idea of how to run the office and paperwork end of his business in this new technological millennium. When Roger discussed his dilemma with his sister, she suggested that he either hire someone to perform these tasks for him, or that he take a small business management course. Roger was always very reluctant to embrace computers, the internet, and technology as a whole, so his sister was completely surprised when he agreed to take the course, instead of hiring someone.

The small business management course was held at his local community college and was sponsored by the Small Business Administration. After the completion of his class, Roger decided to shelf the idea of starting his business immediately and to take a few more courses to learn computer and internet skills, business accounting, and management. He realized that he needed to know that basics of how to operate his business, in order to even be able to consider hiring someone to perform the office administration for him down the road. Roger recognized that he could not successfully start and run his business with the skills that he had, so he updated his knowledge with gusto. Today, Roger owns a growing contracting business and only recently hired someone to take over the day to day office management.

Success in anything occurs when one takes initiative. So, be proactive in reaching your goals by asking the universe for assistance, studying new materials and technologies, or by learning the powers of persuasion. It is through new experiences that new ideas, skills, and opportunities occur. Allow growth in all aspects of life and prosperity will follow.

Life Goes On

December 25th, 2008

Boy, do I feel old. Or at least older.

No, I didn’t just have a birthday (well, it was last month). I am thirty-seven years old.
No, my oldest child just had a birthday - he turned 13 last Friday (I have four kids - 13, 11, 9, and 8).

Sure, I am not old, and neither is he. But this birthday - the 13th - is significant and is cause for reflection. “They don’t get any younger,” they say. And that is exactly my point.

It seems like just yesterday I was playing baseball in little league. Or getting my high school diploma. Or walking down the aisle to get married. Or seeing my firstborn for the first time in that hospital in Morristown N.J.

All of those things were great experiences and ones that I will only experience once. They were fulfillments of goals I had set or dreams that I had. They came, and they went. Now they are but memories. Can you remember yours?

Soon enough this young man of mine will graduate himself and be gone from our home. And his three little sisters soon after that. When the youngest graduates from high school, I’ll be 47. Ten more years of goals fulfilled , but ten years less to live.

Life goes on and there is nothing you can do to stop the wheels of time…
All you can do is make sure that you live every moment of every hour, of every day, week and year to it’s fullest. That is all we can do.

So these are my question to you this week: Are you aware that your life goes on? Do you realize that many of things you are experiencing will never be experienced again? Do you know that once a day is gone, it is gone forever?

Its true. All the more reason we must be extremely proactive. I am not suggesting that we work all the time. I believe that we should live balanced lives and that our down times are just as important in the grand scheme of things as those in which we are working away.
The key is to know what we want to do, to be proactive in making sure we do it, and then following through so when that day comes on which we take our last breath, or someone close to us does, we know deep down in our hearts that we did everything we could to make the most of our lives.

Have you taken responsibility and ownership for your life?

Do you have clearly stated goals?

Are you working on your relationships to make them as healthy as humanly possible?
Are you keeping your life in balance?

Will you leave a legacy for others to enjoy and follow?

These are important questions to answer. More important than that is to do what it takes to live the life of your dreams and leave a lasting legacy.

I am spending my life committed to helping others do all they can to make the most of their lives and enjoy them to the fullest. If you are doing that and living the life of your dreams, that is great!

If you don’t take the time and invest today, when will you? You don’t have to pursue your dreams - they can wait right? But remember, life goes on. The kids get older, and so do you. Tomorrow there will only be one less day to make your significant mark on the world. You know the world needs your contribution, don’t you? Now more than ever!

Here is my challenge: Live your dreams TODAY! Take your life under your control and make it happen.

An Open Letter To The People of Afghanistan and Iraq

December 23rd, 2008

Take hope all you people! Your great suffering has not been in vain. Many alive today will live to see the fulfillment of end time prophecies. That is, the end of the Old World Order, which has oppressed all the people of the world, even as it has rewarded its faithful servants.

Osama Bin Laden began this work with his war on the West, which is the stronghold of Mystery Babylon the Great, described in the last book of the Christian Bible. Although Osama only succeeded in destroying the main symbols of Babylonian power, so far; the economic damages mounts daily and with no further help, Babylon will fall and the merchants will weep.

In the eighteenth Chapter of the Book of Revelation, is published the Babylonian value system. Gold, silver and precious stones are the most valuable things on the list of merchandise. Slaves and souls are the least valuable things. The whole world would rebel against such a value system if they only recognized it and how it operates. It operates through the usury banking forbidden by the Bible and the Quran. It rules the greatest and the least. It holds the world in debt bondage. It makes slaves of all, including those who proclaim themselves free.

If you must bank, outlaw usury banking and perfect Islamic banking. This is the single greatest key to prosperity. Economic justice is unknown to most outside of Islam. The prosperity Islamic banking can generate will quickly overtake the decadence and corruption of the now failing usury bondage. Islamic banking is a power such as can move the least valuable items of the Babylonian value system to the very top of the list, as our Creator desires.

Forget all the talk about democracy. It is the most temporary and unstable of any form of government. It will always become something unintended, in a very short time. The democracy that gained America’s independence from Britain in 1776, disappeared by 1788. By that time, American autocrats - property owners, created a government of the people by the autocrats, for the autocrats. Over the past two hundred years their power has become absolute over the people, who are made to believe they live in a democracy. They vote in so called free elections of autocrat candidates. They think that makes them free and will make you free too. Fighting unwinable wars on drugs, poverty and terrorists is their duty. You know better, don’t you? We in the West so love to be deceived, we hire professional deceivers to deceive us. Choose another path for yourselves! Choose truth when you can find it!

Are you tired of strong man governors (warlords)? You now have an opportunity to choose wise men or women governors. You have always had this opportunity but did not know it. The second book of the Hebrew and Christian Bible shows us all a simple, effective system of organizing ourselves against all forms of tyranny. It is ignored by the modern world. It is a pure, representative and republican system of organization. It works for neighborhoods, villages, towns, cities, nations, businesses, religions and interest groups of any kind. Instead of having it fastened upon people, the wise choose it. It is called captains of ten. We choose the wisest of each ten people to be the captain. The captain settles disputes and arguments among neighbors, like a judge. Let him or her be wise and holy.

This is not very different from the organization of Al Qaeda. It should be clear to the world how well it works. Captains of ten choose among themselves a captain of one hundred. Captains of one hundred choose a captain of one thousand. In this way, the people allow the wisest among them to choose the wisest of the wise and the organization will be wise.

Strong men always try to destroy the wise men. When the wise men organize, the people stand with them and no strong man can conquer them. If you choose this system, you will not end up with a strong central government of any kind, no matter what the servants of Mystery Babylon would give you. Strong central governments are tools of oppressors from the beginning. They are the enemies of free people everywhere. They seek only to enslave others. These governments are enslaved to money, worship it, and serve those who issue and hold it, often in the name of God. Do not be deceived, as we have been deceived.

Water is your future. Respect and protect it. Not only will it clean your bodies and homes, it will help you feed yourselves and others when food is hard to find, all over this world, as it soon will be. Not only will water feed and clean you; it will soon provide you with cheap, clean power to run your machines. It will generate cheap electricity in every neighborhood, village and city. It is worth far more than the gold, silver and precious stones of Mystery Babylon.

Protect your water today and you will never need wires all over your land to have electricity everywhere; although others want to do just that for you. They want you to pay them for your electricity forever. As you wait to get your power from water, get small amounts of electricity from solar panels, wind generators and water turbines or even gasoline-powered generators.

Once you have enough electricity to run a computer and satellite connection to the Internet, the wisdom of the world will be at your fingertips. Your and your children’s education will cost only time and effort. You will not need any industry beyond energy. Any industry you desire can be created with cheap energy.

Look to your elders, traditions, food and water for your health. Then look to the Internet and all the new things being learned and shared about cures for disease and health. Avoid expensive, manufactured medicine whenever you can, and look for the cheaper, natural remedies. The West is just now learning this wisdom and they destroy their health for their lack of wisdom.

Let every able adult have whatever weapons they choose and see to their training on a regular basis. Weapons in the hands of the people are your strongest guarantee of freedom. It is the only reason any American can pretend to be free. Each has the power to resist central governments that enslave. Few resist, but because they can resist at any time, governments and invaders must consider the wishes of the people.

You have seen with your own eyes that you do not need an Army, Air Force or Navy to deal with invaders. Why waste the money the big weapons cost? Invest in small arms, food, water, energy and education.

Each of you survivors is worth more than all the gold, silver, and precious stones of Mystery Babylon. Love each other. Help each other, and the world will rejoice in your wisdom.

Love,

Ed

Perspectives and Attitudes: Teachers Can Fly

December 18th, 2008

Last fall I went to visit my mother in Arizona. It was October, but the weather still favored those of us who like early morning coffees on outdoor patios. Mom has two hummingbird feeders on the patio, and to my delight, last year the speedy “mini’s” found their way to her home.

I confess, I sat on that patio for hours every day watching the doves, and especially the hummingbirds. They were my teachers.

As fast as a Ferrari may be, we humans have not yet captured the fierce mobility and speed of the hummingbird. Did you know that they flap their wings an average of 53 flaps per second? Their little hearts can beat up to 1260 beats per minute. Scientists believe they live 4-5 years, but have found some alive after 12 years.

They seemed to be nervous little creatures. They moved so quickly, so consistently, that even while they ate, they often kept on flapping! .

I found myself feeling irritated with my fast and furious friends. Why couldn’t they slow down? Why did them seem so suspicious of anything and everyone? Why didn’t they relax long enough to eat?

As the days went by and I allowed myself to relax, I noticed it was my own behavior that irritated me the most. Why did I have to be in such a flurry all the time? What made me think that a few moments to sit down and share a meal with others or myself would break the bank? Why must my life move at such a breakneck speed that people could hear the “hum” of my engines when I entered the room?

Several months have passed, and I am still thinking of my feathered teachers. In their own habitat what they do, and how they live, makes sense. But for me, I need to slow down. Life is too fleeting, to magical, to illusive to spend every day hurrying to my next activity.

Be aware of your own teachers - they are appointed as personal tutors. They appear in unusual clothing and often annoy us. You may find yourself angry with them, broken-hearted by them, pushed, or punished by them. They can accuse you, abuse you, or desert you. Sometimes they are your best friends, lovers, or “over-the-backyard-fence” neighbors. You can be either inspired or infuriated in their presence. Rarely will they announce they are your teacher, nor are they often “paid” what they deserve.

Sometimes, if you are lucky, they visit you in the park, the pond, the nest, the zoo, the forest, the sky, or the water.

You never know when to expect them, but they are easy to spot. When you sense yourself reacting to a situation or a person, either kindly or with agitation, there is your clue: you are back in class. If you are lucky like me, your teachers may hibernate or travel south for the winter. Do you think there might be a SAT test we could take and be done with it already?

My best advice; make peace with your teachers. Raise your hand before you speak, do the assignments, accept the corrections. And don’t forget the power of the apple!

Go Ahead, Toss the Starfish!

December 18th, 2008

There is an old story that tells of a man walking along a beach when up ahead in the distance, he catches sight of another man acting strangely. As he gets closer, he notices the man is picking things up from the sand and throwing them into the water.

Upon reaching him, he sees the objects being tossed are starfish, stranded on shore by the retreating tide. Curious about his intentions, the first man asked, “What are you doing?”

“I am saving these starfish,” he replied. “They won’t survive in the sun until the tide returns.”

Totally taken aback by this statement, the first man said, rather indignantly, “Aren’t you being a little silly? Do you not realize how many hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of starfish there are in the sea and that by throwing a few back will make absolutely no difference at all?”

The second man said nothing but was unfazed. He picked up yet another starfish and threw it out into the waves. He hesitated for a moment, then looked back the first man and said, “I just made a difference for that one.”

It is an old story but a good one and it still serves to remind us - or maybe just me - of several important life lessons.

Given the unrest in the world of late and the day-to-day pressures, people endure; it comes as no surprise that too many of us have become conditioned to seeing our lot in life from a jaded point of view. We learn to accept the notion that we, as individuals, have no real control and/or that in the big scheme of things, what we do or influence, doesn’t really matter. As a result, we tend to retreat psychically, so as not to deal with conditions we believe beyond the realm of our control.

The net result is we act in ways in keeping with a defeatist’s outlook, or to borrow a phrase, to see the glass Half Empty. Almost everybody can think of people they know that fit this profile - perhaps even they themselves.

The starfish story serves to underscore the importance of a basic human psychological need for people to find balance and purpose in their daily life.

One could argue about who benefited more, the starfish or its benefactor. At the risk of sounding a little ‘out there’, we might ponder the question; in this example, whose life was made better? An answer might be that the starfish’s life was saved but that the man, albeit on a small scale, found ‘Purpose’ and no doubt, the feeling of satisfaction that comes from doing something good for others.

Although it would be easy to dismiss this observation as being a little academic or foolish, psychologists, nevertheless, will tell us that genuine feelings of - in this case, doing something simple but good - automatically influence one’s physiological chemistry. Simply put, when we feel good, our body produces endorphins that stimulate our brain and vital organs, which in turn, helps promote better health, pleasure and improved life-balance. We have all heard the expression, It is better to give than receive. Believe it!

Granted, the starfish example is a simple one, but the premise or law still holds true for human interactions more complex. For those who possess ‘Purpose’ - even marginally - find they are more in control than out. The fact is, they cannot be directionless if they have a ‘Purpose’.

Many find purpose in their job or career. They do not dread the work they do; they embrace it and benefit from it. In the workplace, they are a pleasure to be around. People, who find purpose in family, are apt to achieve enjoyment, satisfaction and pleasure in their own life - but only in the pursuit of their purpose, achieved only by serving others - which brings us to perhaps the most important point.

A generation ago, purpose-based coaching was more structured, finding bedrock in the traditional family unit, educational and religious institutions. We were all taught the Golden Rule: “Do unto others”. Sadly, however, we now live in different times. The traditional family unit has changed. It might even be broken. Religious institutions play less of a role with a greater number of people and today’s work environment is more challenging, complex and stress-filled than ever before.

The result? Near epidemic numbers of people suffering from depression and health related breakdowns. A world filled with too many individuals bereft of passion, purpose and self-fulfillment. As Mazlow once said, “Most people live lives of quiet desperation”.

Therefore, what can we learn from the starfish scenario? Two things.

1) The act of saving the starfish, in the end, brought greater benefit to the man than the starfish. “It is in the GIVING or the doing that we help ourselves!” Our reward? Purpose… A reason for being.

2) The Contagion Factor: Although the starfish story clearly demonstrates a moral, benevolence and wisdom, it stops short of casting light on the ultimate outcome from such an activity. It is no stretch to believe that the second man may have been inspired. In so doing, he may reevaluate his own jaded outlook, and wish to emulate the kindness he’d witnessed.

We know that an unselfish act serves as its own lesson and motivates others to react in kind. It is infectious! It is also circular or better put, “What goes around, comes around”. It brings with it, renewed purpose, balance, hope, health and satisfaction.

So go ahead… “Toss a Starfish!”

2. Analyze its programs

Before you settle for a particular network marketing company in the Internet, it is best to analyze first its program line-up. Is it distributor driven? Do they offer you the definite demand for the products and the real means of earning and growing with the program? Or do they provide you with the now or never opportunity that will never be claimed again once you have passed on the opportunity that they are giving you?

If they insist that you really have to join now or else youll be missing a lot, chances are, its a fraud. Network marketing companies with real programs do not have to compel you to join immediately.

3. The incentive test

Try to evaluate the incentives being given by the company during their presentation. Assess yourself if the incentives sound sensible. Do you really think that you can earn the amount of money that they are claiming you can earn, too?
